Capsicum|Bell pepper chutney is a very good side dish for idli, Rava idli, and dosas of all types. If you want the color of the chutney to be bright red, use red bell pepper. You can also use other color bell pepper but the color of the chutney will vary.


Ingredients:


Red Bell Pepper - 1

Onion - 1 big (roughly chopped)

Tomato - 2 small (roughly chopped)

Garlic - 2 cloves

Green Chilies - 4 nos

Red Chilies - 4 nos

Mint leaves - few twigs

Urad dal - 2 tsp

Mustard - 1 tsp

Salt - as needed

Oil - 2 tbsp

Curry Leaves - few


Steps:

  1. In a pan add oil. Once it is hot, add urad dal, garlic, and saute for a few seconds and add the onion. Saute it until the onion is translucent.

2. Now add green, red chilies, onion, and saute it for a minute. The tomatoes need not be mushy. Add bell pepper and saute it till it becomes soft. Adjust salt and switch off the flame

3. Add mint and mix it. Cool down the mixture and grind it to a smooth paste. To another pan add a little oil and temper with mustard, urad dal, and curry leaves.

4. Add the temper to the chutney.


Serve it with idli and dosa. Enjoy!
