Pepper Garlic Rasam

Pepper garlic rasam is very good when you have cold. Even if I don't have a full course meal, simple rice and rasam makes me happy.Even though there are different ways we can make rasam, I like to cook this rasam every week. It helps in digestion too.Let us look into the rasam recipe.

Ingredients
Tamarind – 1 small gooseberry sized
Pepper – 1 tsp
Jeera – 1 tsp
Garlic – 4 to 5 cloves
Green chilli – 1
Tomato – 1 small
Hing/asafetida – a pinch
Turmeric – 1/4 tsp
Salt as needed
Mustard -1/4 tsp
Curry leaves – few
Red chilli – 1
Steps for making rasam
1. Soak tamarind in hot water and extract the pulp and add 2 cups of water
2. Grind pepper, garlic, jeera, green chilli,garlic, tomato to a smooth paste and mix this mixture in tamarind water


3. Add turmeric, salt to the mixture and mix well
4. Now in a pan add some oil and temper with mustard,red chilli,curry leaves, asafetida,and pour in the mixture
5. Switch off the flame when bubbles appear. Do not let it boil as it may turn bitter. Garnish with Coriander leaves
